Some form of mandarin orange is available from November through April, though supplies can begin as early as mid-October and run into May.

Sweet oranges (Laranjas) were brought to Europe in the 15th century from India by Portuguese traders, quickly displaced the bitter, and are now the most common variety of orange cultivated.

The bulk of the naval orange harvest is from November through May, with peak supplies from January through March.
